GROUP THERAPY IS AWESOME

Our New Group for Self-Development opens on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 10th 2018- Contact us for details!

A lot of clients are resistant to Group Therapy for several reasons:hey fear that group therapy includes unnecessary self-exposure, that they don’t belong in it, that others have “ different” or “ bigger” problems than theirs. It is also common for people to feel safer talking one-on-one rather than sharing emotions and experiences with a bunch of strangers.

However, for many people Group Therapy has been a more powerful, and effective than individual therapy. Here are some reasons for why Group Therapy has great therapeutic results;

  • The Group is something more than the sum of its participants!

A group of people form a Group Therapy team when they share common emotional experiences. As a result, when they interact in this way they promote self-development and positive changes not only in their own lives but in each other’s lives. The members of the Group join having specific expectations and therapeutic goals, while the therapists are guiding them session after-session through their self-exploration journey. A Group Therapy is not a group of random people coming together. Instead, it is adynamic network of individuals having decided to work towards a common goal which is bringing self-development and positive change into their lives.

  • With Group Therapy, you are not alone anymore!

Many clients enter therapy with thoughts of uneasiness. Often they mistakenly believe that they are  unique in the struggles and as a result convince themselves that they are confronting weird or unacceptable problems, thoughts, fantasies, and symptoms. Group Therapy is a relieving experience for its members as it allows it members to feel ordinary again by showing them that they are no alone in their struggles. Additionally, , working on personal therapeutic goals along with the rest of the group builds strong relationships that many times remain significant for a lifetime!

  • Group Therapy is a confidential and secure therapeutic environment.

The concept of confidentiality is fundamental to all forms of psychotherapy. Especially in Group Therapy the therapeutic work is shared with more people than just the therapist. Hence, confidentiality is one of the most important principles of group therapy.. Therefore, all members of the Group are asked to sign a confidentiality contract at testing to their commitment to confidentiality prior to joining the group in order to create a safe space.

  • Group Therapy is more affordable!

Unfortunately, it is a fact that some people can’t afford one-on-one psychotherapy. As a result, they find themselves obliged to limit their treatment to several sessions. Group therapy offers a more affordable alternative to individual therapy. The unique way in which Group Therapy delivers treatment utilizing the support, feedback, and reflections of the group, as well those of the therapist allows for an affordable alternative that is just as effective.. Also, there is a strong evidence base that demonstrates the clinical effectiveness of treating a range of mental health disorders and psychological distress related conditions in a group environment.

  • Group Therapy is not for the mentally sick

If you believe that psychotherapy or Group Therapy is only for people that face a mental disorder then it is almost sure that you have never engaged in a psychotherapeutic relationship before. Although there are people that would start a psychotherapeutic work after suffering mental symptomatology or distress, there is a very big percentage of people that aim at self-development and regaining control over their life. If you feel that you need to initiate changes for making your life better, even if you don't deal with acute symptomatology, a Group Therapy can be the start of a more fulfilling life for you.
